1. Priming: start your day off on the right foot by taking a slow deep breathe and saying out loud, three things you are grateful for (e.g. my puppy, family, food in my fridge etc.)
2. Practice Slow Motion: set a reminder on your phone or at lunchtime for instance, to intentionally slow your roll. Slow down your walking pace, driving, talking, thinking, waiting in line, and just about anything your doing. Try it for 2 or more minutes a few times a day.
3. Slow deep breathing: Leave your work station and find a location for solitude. In a seated position, place one hand softly on your abdomen, and inhale through your nose slowly over a count of four seconds. Without holding your breathe, exhale slowly through your mouth over a count of four seconds. If your mind wanders, its okay, simply acknowledge the thoughts, and refocus on your breathe.
If you are new to these strategies, it will take practice to get comfortable with them. Please remember, perfection is not the goal here. Let me know if you have any questions or want to learn more.
